UK Autumn Statement Today - MI221123

The UK's Chancellor puts his stamp on the economy today.

Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, is expected to reveal a number of tax breaks around lunch time today. In the spotlight will be National Insurance and Corporation Tax. The latter could see investment in profits being extended to effectively lower tax.

He's also expected to show a tougher stance on the longer term unemployed.

Outside of that UK specific news the Pound has been having a decent week of it showing modest gains versus the Euro and the Dollar.

GBP/USD could come under the spotlight later with durable goods orders in the US. However with Thanksgiving Day tomorrow it's unlikely we will see real fireworks.

Tomorrow could be more interesting when global services and manufacturing data is reported.
